This Easter we’re celebrating the refurbishment of Dock Park with a free family-friendly ride to explore the new facilities in the park – and also venture out further afield. This will be a very easy ride of no more than 3 miles and will stick to cycle paths and very quiet roads. It’s suitable for all ages and you don’t even need a bike – we’ll be able to provide a free Orange Bike rental for any adult who needs one (unfortunately, children will have to bring their own but it means parents can accompany their kids if they don’t have a bike)
The ride will be on Monday 7th April at 11am. All of our family rides are open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that children under 14 are accompanied by an adult. They are run at a gentle pace and you don’t need any special equipment or clothing – just whatever you’d wear for a walk will be fine. Meet at the car park next to the ‘Orange Bike’ rental stand
The council will also be offering balance bike sessions at the park on Monday 7th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th of April from 10:15 – 12:00. Balance bikes are bikes without pedals that are a great way to get young children cycling – they learn to balance and steer first, and can then graduate to a pedal bike once they’ve got their confidence. Come along and give them a go.
