Saturday July 2nd – this year we’re joining with Cycling UK to kick off our summer ride schedule with a special family cycling workshop funded by the Big Lottery Scotland Awards for All to get the whole family onto bikes this summer.
If you want to cycle with your children but aren’t sure where to start – or if you’re contemplating getting a child seat, tagalong, tandem or even a cargo bike – or if you’re already using any of these things and would like to share your experiences with other cycling families – then this event is for you!
From 12-2 we’ll be gathering at the bandstand in Dock Park to try out various family bike setups, share tips and experiences, and generally get ready for the cycling summer (you can read a bit more about a similar event in Edinburgh here. You will also be able to get your bike checked out by a mechanic and any little niggles sorted out – perfect if it’s spent all winter in the shed …
Then at 2 we’ll head off for the first of our summer rides – a short 3 mile ‘kidical mass’ (yes, that is short) down to Kingholm Quay and back via the Robert Burns Centre where there is a very good chance that there will be ice cream
There will be snacks and refreshments provided but if you want a more substantial lunch bring a picnic.
Sounds good? If you’re coming and you’re on Facebook you can let us know here
