Anyone who fancies mixing a little culture with their cycling is invited to the CTC Spring Fling ride this Saturday (28th May)
Mike Gray writes:
The ride meets at 09:45 (for a 10:00 start) at the Village Hall in Twynholm, just off the A75.
Plan is to head south through the village and down the minor road past Compstonend, and straight across the A755 to follow the road on down to the B727 at Nun Mill Bay. From here we’ll take the B727 (which is also NCR 7) around the coast to Kirkcudbright. I anticipate being there around 11.
Such is the variety of studios and cafes (and other attractions) in Kirkcudbright I propose that individuals visit the studios and cafes as takes their fancy and that we then regroup at the TIC (near the harbour) at an agreed time, say 14:00 or thereabouts. We’ll then cycle up the a711 to the studio (No 22) in Tongland visiting No 21 on the way.
After this we’ll backtrack a little down the A711 to Tongland Bridge and take the A762 to Low Bridge of Tarff. Here we’ll swing a left and pedal along the minor road back into Twynholm. Depending on how long we spend at the studios I expect back by about 17:00.
About 20 miles, all on road. Best map is OS Explorer 312.
