We got very excited this morning when we thought the Loreburn Bridge had re-opened early
It is open at the College Street end – but only the steps are currently open at the other end, so it’s only usable if you’re on foot, or can carry your bike. Hopefully nobody in a wheelchair got similarly fooled and had to backtrack all the way back.
We’re told that the contractors will be applying anti-skid coating next week, which will mean closing the bridge completely on Tuesday (weather permitting) and hopefully reopening it finally on Thursday if all goes well. It will be wonderful to have this key link back.
Meanwhile, it’s the Rood Fair and once more it looks as if the Whitesands will be blocked from just before the Suspension Bridge to Dock Park. We have asked for passage to bikes to be maintained, and have been told that this should happen, although obviously when the fair is in full swing it will be better to wheel your bike or find another route. At least this is only for a few days, rather than the whole summer …
