We received this lovely email from Rachel and her family which quite made our day:
Hi, just to say that I took 2 of my children into town today on the bikes to get our messages and we had a great time, finishing a fun day with a trip to Dumfries museum. My 8 year old said it was one of the best days ever!!!
We started at the bottom of the Vennel picking up our cards in Restore and some leather cord to fix a necklace, then on to Parrys farm shop to get carrots and “poddy peas” then into Bank of Scotland who couldn’t find their stickers just like Trinkets and treasures so took pictures!! Boots was our next stop. Then we headed to Mrs Greens as my kids reckoned that carrot cake was called for!!! After buying trainers and sunglasses in Mountain Warehouse and getting both kids feet measured in Clarks we stopped in Mr News and then on to Dumfries Museum for a lovely afternoon with super helpful and patient staff. Thank you for encouraging us to have such a great day.
Not only does this illustrate how an ordinary day of shopping and errands can genuinely be turned into a fun adventure just by adding bikes – it also shows what a fantastic variety of places there are to shop or visit right on our doorstep in Dumfries. On a sunny Saturday, what better way to spend a day?
Oh and we totally agree that carrot cake was definitely called for after all that!
