Joining the ‘chain gang’ on our third summer ride

Fourteen of us rode out for last weekend’s summer ride along the Maxwelltown Cycleway – five miles of almost entirely flat and trouble-free riding, apart from the odd mechanical incident…

Having your chain fall off is one of the rites of passage of cycling; fortunately there were plenty of people who could get it back on again

Luckily there was plenty of cake to keep everyone happy while the mechanics did some running repairs …

Other than that the ride was trouble free – and the cycle path is such a safe environment even for children that we let the younger participants lead us back until we rejoined the road (they set a cracking pace too). All in all a very satisfying day out, and another few miles racked up on our challenge cards.

Tomorrow is our fourth ride – along the Caledonian Cycleway. Hope to see you there.
