We’ve been busy with the situation with the new hospital – but we haven’t forgotten the social side and our next winter ride will be on Saturday the 18th January – a gentle 20-miler around the (mostly) flat lands south of Dumfries taking in Glencaple, Caerlaverock and Bankend. If you’ve over-indulged somewhat over the holiday period, now is the time to start making good on those New Year resolutions to get out on the bike more (and if you need some extra encouragement, let the cakeulator be your friend).
Now’s the best time to visit the wetlands on the Nith and Solway with thousands upon thousands of Barnacle Geese over wintering there – which can make for a spectacular site when they all take to the air. And with two cafes to choose from, at the WWT centre or the Castle, we will be spoiled for lunch choices.
Meet opposite Dock Park at 10 am, dressed for whatever the weather can throw at us. However, if on the day the conditions will be dangerous, the ride will be cancelled – keep an eye on our twitter feed or facebook page for last-minute information.
