Summer’s gone … roll on September

Well, it’s been a brilliant summer. Not just the fact that we got an actual summer for once, but the way the town seems to have been full of bikes of all shapes and sizes – and the brilliant turnout for our summer bike rides. But all good things must come to an end and now we’re looking forward to September (and hopefully a bit of an Indian Summer before the winter closes in)

The main event next month will be our bike breakfast on Thursday 12th September, which is really taking shape. We went down to check out the location in front of the Council HQ in English St this afternoon and the big news is we’re getting the whole of the space in front of the building – including the reserved parking spots for the council Chief Executive, Leader of the Council, and other big wigs. We hope they’ll be turning up on a bike that day… We’ve also had generous donations from the Co-Op and support from Elite Display and Kirkpatrick Cycles, who will be doing a ‘Doctor Bike’ session for anyone who wants a health check on their steed. Please do help spread the word – there are  flyers to hand outhandlebar flyers and a poster which you can put up in your work place or anywhere else. And if Facebook is your thing, there’s now an event on our Facebook page so you can tell us you’re coming and invite others along.

Ordinarily, our monthly meeting would also be on the 12th but I think it would be more useful to have it the week before so it will be next Thursday, 5th September at 6pm in the Coach and Horses as usual. If anyone would like to help spread the word about the breakfast with a bit of flyering then let us know – otherwise we hope to see you at the pub – or at the Breakfast.
