Cycling Dumfries

By the Light of the Silv’ry Moon…

Some dates for your diary in July …

First a reminder that our summer rides start on Saturday – this is the second year we’ve run these and we’re hoping to build on last year’s numbers. We had up to a dozen turn out on some weekends – pretty good given the weather and the fact that we were competing with the Olympics. Please come along – they’re generally good fun (with tea and cakes afterwards if we can find a substitute for the Cup Cake Cafe) – and spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested (you can also print out posters to help publicise the rides)

But this year we’re adding a bonus summer ride to our programme – although one for the adults looking for a longer ride, rather than families with children.

On Monday 22nd July we’re planning a full moon ride in collaboration with Dumfries Museum (like our winter history tours). This one will be celebrating the Great Moss. We’re hoping for a glorious summer evening and a magical moonlit ride… Please come along and spread the word

And finally – a week today (Thursday 11th July) will be our next meeting in the pub as usual, but as it’s summer and the weather looks set to improve I’m planning a short ride and if anyone wants to join me I’ll be at the station at 5pm. I’m planning to recce the Heathall route to have a look at the offroad cycle tracks to see if they’d be suitable for one of the later summer rides. Otherwise, see you at the Coach and Horses at 6
