Anyone interested in exploring the hidden gems of Dumfries in congenial company and on two wheels is cordially invited to join Cycling Dumfries and the D&G CTC on a Doors Open Day ride on Saturday 29th September.
This ride is less about the bike and more about using it to get to some hidden corners of the town. We’ll be visiting Moat Brae, Greyfriars Kirk, The Oasis Centre, the Council ‘Bunker’, the Old Schoolhouse, the Robert Burns Centre and the Museum. While it will be a bit of a whistle-stop tour, the pace will be gentle and the route designed to avoid busy roads, although it will largely be on-road. Families welcome, and any ability of cyclist should be able to manage the ride.
Meet at Dock Park (beside the bike hire stands) at 1pm on Saturday 29th September; we should be finished by 5. It’s entirely free to take part, including entry to all the buildings on the day. You can book, but equally you can just turn up on the day.
For those who prefer a longer run, there will be a Doors Open Day Machar ride organised by the CTC – meet at the Whithorn visitor centre at 10:30 am the same day.
