Last Chance for a Summer ride

Enjoying the sunshine on the way back from the Aviation Museum

The weather did not look promising today – but as so often has happened this summer, the rain stopped and the sun even put in an appearance as a select group of us cycled up to the Aviation museum and back. As most folk had visited before we didn’t linger at the museum (although Mike gave us a guided tour of the bits we could see through the fence). Apologies to anyone who believed my description of the Caledonian cycleway as ‘dead level’ – I had forgotten that there were a couple of sharp little climbs where the route headed over a bridge …

Still, at least it meant that we all felt we had earned our cake and coffee when we made it back to the cafe in Dock Park. And it was very pleasant to enjoy it in the sunshine after a summer that’s seen more rain than blue skies.

With the schools going back, it’s beginning to feel as if summer is winding down, but you’ve still one last chance to join our summer rides next Saturday with our grand finale – a ride down to Glencaple and back on Saturday 25th August.
