Cycling Dumfries Needs You

Your Country Needs You, from drbexl on flickr

We’re planning a series of easy summer rides for families and beginner cyclists – short and mainly off road or on quiet routes. CTC did a series of these a few years back and they were extremely popular among new cyclists but they’ve struggled to get enough volunteers to help out with leading or accompanying the rides to do them again. We’ve got a few ride leaders already but we can always do with more to make sure the rides go with a swing – and to enable loads more people to discover for themselves the joys of getting around by bike.

So this is where you come in. Do you cycle? Would you like to spend a bit of time this summer – maybe one or two Saturday afternoons, for a couple of hours – sharing your enthusiasm with some like-minded others? You don’t need any experience (except in riding your bike) as we’ll tell you what you need to do and we’ll work out the routes and do all the planning. All you’d need to do is show up on the day – and then go for a nice bike ride. It hardly seems like volunteering at all, does it?

So if you can help out (and even just one afternoon would be a huge help), please let us know either in the comments or by emailing us at cyclingdumfries AT gmail DOT org. And then we’ll see you down at Dock Park for the start of a great summer of cycling in Dumfries
