Doors Open

For those of you who love a sneaky peek behind the scenes of things (or free entry to a normally paying attraction!), Dumfries and Galloway’s Doors Open weekend will be on the 24th and 25th of September with 34 sites spread right across the country.  And if you want to combine it with some cycling (and really, why wouldn’t you? This weather can’t go on for ever can it?), the CTC will be leading two rides on the Saturday taking in some of the highlights of the weekend, one in the east and one in the west of the county:

Annandale Ride.  Meet at the Town Hall in Lochmaben (top of the High Street) at 10:45 for an 11:00 start.  The ride will take in Dalton Village hall, Hallmuir POW Chapel and Mossburn Animal Sanctuary, with lunch at the Dalton Pottery cafe.  The route is about 20 miles, with a few hills (though nothing severe).  Should be back in Lochmaben before 5pm.
Wigtownshire Ride.  Meet at Logan Gardens car park at 09:45 for a 10:00 start.   The ride will take in the Gardens, Kirkmaiden Old Parish Church and The Mull of Galloway Experience.  About 25 miles with some hilly sections.
