Now here’s the sort of bike riding that’s right up our street, for who can argue with tea and buns?
Cycling Dumfries’s very own Mike Gray, with his CTC hat on, sent the following reminder of this weekend’s upcoming Four Kirks Charity ride
In his own words:
The Four Kirks Ride – Sunday August 28th
This ride is run in co-operation with Paul Hodson to raise funds for local charities. Meet at Crossmichael Hall (near the church) at 12:45 for a 13:00 start. This is a lovely ride with multiple tea & buns thrown in, at the churches in Kirkpatrick Durham, Corsock and ending up at Parton (and with folks on hand to tell you about the history of the buildings). The route (via Clarebrand and Old Bridge of Urr) is all on tarmac but it does have a few hills, taken by the T&B brigade at a moderate pace. Those who like a faster run can accompany the enthusiastic youngsters – I struggled to keep up with them last year and I’ve asked Ted (Norfolk) to accompany this year.
Though usually CTC rides are free, in this case a contribution for the charities is requested.
